Dear Bailey,
What’s up brother? I have recently come into a collision with a deer and its small family. Subsequently, the antlers of said deer(s) are lodged in the flux capacitator. These obstructions prevent the automobile from functioning as was originally intended and keep me in the present time. What advice can you give me about removing the antlers from my Delorean. I have pressing issues in the 1950s that need attention so please respond at your earliest convenience.
Thanks and Godspeed.
Doc
Dear Doc
To be quite simple and plain, I am not sure, short of getting a new Delorean (or perhaps something faster such as a Toyota Supra or an RX7), how to physically take those antlers out… but that does not mean I do not have a solution. You see, I have been reading some quantum physics books and have come up with an attainable solution.
There are several theories on how the Quantum world works. For our needs, we will focus on the evolution of the Copenhagen view, or Quantum reality #2, that was developed by John Archibald Wheeler. This theory of Quantum physics:
“emphasizes the observations’ special status in a quantum world. Of quantum theory’s many elements, the observer-created reality school stresses the quantum meter option- The observers ability to intervene in reality by freely selecting which attribute he wants to look at. ” From Page 164 in Quantum Reality by Nick Herbert
So, according to John, small particles behaved in different ways depending on how the scientists viewed them. This has a huge effect on the world around us! You see, the world as we know it is made up of tiny particles bound together to make bigger things (such as cars) and if these little particles are affected by how we perceive them it would then stand to reason that we would affect the things around us by observing them.
This might seem a little mind bending, even for a doctor such as yourself, but I assure you it is not tricky. In fact, another way to look at this theory is by using the old philosophical “if a tree falls in a forest” question. The real question here is not “does the tree make a sound?”, but rather “does the tree exist at all?” Does the outside world exist if we do not bring it into being by observing it? To stretch John’s quantum theory to absurdity, the tree does not exist if we do not observe it into reality.
Now, back to your question on removing the antlers from your Flux Capacitor. If you do not observe the antlers the particles within the antlers might decide they do not want to be antlers any more and go away! Therefore, your best bet is to ignore the problem and, according to physics, your problem will go away!
I hope that helped.
Your brother,
– Bailey
